For a decade, Baobab Collection has proudly partnered with a community of exceptional Malagasy artisans to create our iconic raffia-wrapped candles. This collaboration goes beyond production; it embodies our dedication to artisanal excellence and the preservation of tradition. By supporting this initiative, we contribute to the economic and cultural growth of the Malagasy community, while offering you exquisite creations infused with the authenticity and rich heritage of Madagascar.
Our summer collections feature candles wrapped in hand-crocheted raffia, crafted by talented women artisans from a rural community near Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. What began with 25 artisans has now expanded to 66, each bringing their expertise and passion to every piece they create. Their craft, often passed down through generations, allows them to provide for their families and sustain their community.
Our artisans receive guidance from Baobab Collection’s creative director, ensuring that each piece meets the highest standards of quality and creativity. This process not only challenges their skills but also empowers them to push the boundaries of their traditional craft. We are committed to showing each artisan that they are a vital part of Baobab Collection, with our unwavering support behind them.
